Aren't I cute?!

Doesn't it look like that is what Aiden's thinkin'? Today we're going out with my dad and family. My brother, Ryan, is in town from the big city (otherwise known as New York City). Aiden's in a good mood today so it should be fun. We're all heading for Kemah. Olen's even getting off early for the trip. It's tempting to find a place to spend the night down there for me and Aiden.
Last night we went to a fellowship dinner at the church. That's always entertaining. It gives me and Aiden a chance to get out of the house. Aiden's learning to climb a little. We have this old-fashioned walker/stroller that my grandmother gave us.

He loves to climb up on it. A little while ago he slipped as he was trying to get back down. He ended up laying on the bottom part of it! It was cute. He managed to figure out how to untangle himself before I could get a picture though. Oh, well. Well, we'd better get ready to leave. We're supposed to be at my dad's in an hour and Aiden needs his bath. Cya!

This picture was taken yesterday. It's Aiden's surfer look. Isn't he cute?! You know that you're a parent when the child is asleep and you're still watching the Disney channel...I'm currently watching the Lizzie McGuire movie. Again. Yes, it's true. I've seen it before. And yes, I admit it, I liked the movie. I'm a sucker for silly romance movies.
Lizzie McGuire
Well, the movie's over. So, I guess that I could find a non-Disney movie. (I was about to write that I was going to find an adult movie and realized that phrasing sounded bad.) Oh, wait, it's already bedtime. Where did the day go? It seems like I just got up. Oh, well, 'til tomorrow....

Story lines

I love playing with my blog. I have figured out how to add different features. Most of the ideas I have stolen from another friend of mine. (kudos to Tab) I'm not a very creative person on my own. However, I'm really good at taking someone else's idea and making it my own. My husband (God bless him) believes that I'm an extremely creative person. He finds it fascinating that I have a story line in my head that I create. It's been going on for years and loops back in on itself time and time again. Only I understand the ins and outs of all the characters and even I forget them sometimes. Some characters I try to reintroduce later and I have to give them new names because I have forgotten the old ones! What I love about the characters in my head is that I can make them do exactly what I want them to do. Real life is not like that at all. If it was, my husband would clean up after himself. The baby would always be smiling. It would be sunny every time I wanted to go somewhere. But, in some ways, I'm glad that real life is not like my story line. For a good story, there must be conflict. And in my head, the conflicts sometimes come fast and furious so that my characters can respond heroically to their circumstances. Real life is usually more peaceful. When I was alot younger, I used to watch soaps. They always reminded me that my life was actually going pretty well, at least in comparison it was. You see, in real life, my husband is faithful and loving. My baby is really mine. We're all healthy. No one wants to destroy us. Our friends are always there for us. Yup, life's pretty darn good. In fact, I hear life calling right now. Or maybe that's just Aiden...

Catching the Moment

The other day I accidently left our dog, Jake, outside while we went shopping. When I let him in, he was very hot and I was feeling very guilty. He walked two feet and laid down. I, feeling guilty, went and filled his water bowl and brought it to him. A little later, I heard the noise of splashing water. I was sitting at my computer at the time. I looked up and saw that Jake had come over by me. I then had the realization that someone other than Jake was in his water bowl. I walked over to discover that Aiden was playing in the water bowl. I rushed to grab my camera. While I took pictures of a very happy baby, Aiden decided to turn the bowl over. Needless to say, I then rushed for towels!

Wow! It's been a long time...

Wow! It's been a really long time since I blogged. I always felt that I had to have something important or at the very least entertaining to say. But who really cares about that? :-) Last night, Olen and I watched AFI's 100 greatest films. I don't know why, but I always love their countdowns. Olen figured out the top movie from the beginning. Citizen Kane won top honors. Apparently, they cut holes in the floor of the studio just to get some of their shots. It was fun to see where our favorite movies ended up. My favorite, the Lord of the Rings, ended up at #50.

Father's Day was a big success around here. I pretty much let Olen decide what a perfect day would be. We got up late. That's always a bonus for me! He decided that he really wanted to go to Galveston for a picnic. Now, if you don't remember the weather on Sunday, let me remind you: It was raining. Yes, I said raining! But Olen was determined. I decided that since it was his day that we would do whatever he wanted. So, we loaded the car with the baby, us, and the picnic basket. We made a stop at the grocery store for more needed items. Then, off we went through the rain.
By the time we hit the causeway, we had driven out of the rain. Apparently, it was only raining in the Houston area. Cool! Bonus...the temperature was cooler beacuse of the storms that were in the area. We actually had a nice picnic. Then we took Aiden out for his first look at the Gulf. He had a blast! Mommy and Daddy paid lots of attention to him. He thought that was loads of fun. We went for a long walk on the beach. We decided that it was time to head back when we heard thunder! We got back near the car right when it started to sprinkle down on us. Then, we drove around for awhile sightseeing. By the time we got back in close to Houston, the weather had turned into sunshine and blue skies. Now, that's a beautiful ending to a beautiful day!
